1st Annual Old Mystic Day (Community Event)
Time: 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Location: Old Mystic
Old Mystic businesses are celebrating that the village is recovering from the flood and opening its doors to celebrate with the community! Pick up a map at the General Store and enjoy a nibble of a breakfast pizza or lunch pizza and then walk and visit the other businesses in Old Mystic. Balloons and possibly the Nutmeg Fife and Drum Corps will be at the Vietnam Memorial Park across from the General Store.Advantage Personal Training, East West Chiropractic and Hutter Chiropractic will be doing a free Fitness Obstacle Course and free chair massages. (till 12 pm)Chucky's Convenience Store will be open all day.Law Offices of Lochiatto and Lawrence will be grilling hot dogs outside in their parking lot. Holly Hock Farm Antiques will be serving cake and coffee inside.Indian & Colonial Research Center is the last business still under repair but they will have a table outside displaying some history of Old Mystic and photos.Old Mystic General Store will have a strolling guitarist /singer and breakfast/lunch pizzas. Joan Cohn of the Indian and Colonial Research Center has composed an informational notebook with photos and text about the history of the Old Mystic General Store. It will be placed on the new little table in the front of the store for the public to enjoy.Mystical Horizons promises an intriguing sweet treat so come inside!Mercer and Bertsche Architecture and Engineering will serve cookies and lemonade under the trees by the river & give tours of their design studio.The Old Mystic Inn will offer tea sandwiches and sweet treats along with The Prism Woodwind Trio in the Gazebo.Old Mystic Fire Department Ken Richards and our firemen will take people up in the cherry picker so they can see a bird's eye view of Old Mystic!Old Mystic Post Office will have sweets from our sweet Postmasters.

As part of its small changes>Lifelong Results™ campaign, the Fruit2O brand is asking Hartford residents to pledge to make a small change in their life that will have a big impact on their health. For every pledge submitted at Riverfest and through Fruit2O’s page on Facebook®, Fruit2O will donate $1 to Hartford’s American Diabetes Association organization, up to $5,000. The participating market that obtains the most pledges by August 15, 2010 will receive an additional $15,000 donation.
